Abstract

A hostile and somewhat ramshackle assemblage of miscellaneous extracts contrived to condemn, from a politically conservative perspective, the Webbs, sometimes in their own words. It contains an APPENDIX with two items: [1] Extracts from the rare 'Wanted, a programme' by Sidney Webb; [2] 'A few words on Mr. Webb’s "Purely Revolutionary Scheme". The latter is anonymous. The phrase "purely revolutionary scheme" occurs with respect to Sidney Webb's 'Wanted, a programme' in Conservative writer Lord Sydenham's 'Studies of an Imperialist' (Chapman and Hall, 1928), p. 291. Boswell Printing and Publishing Company published many right-wing books and pamphlets as well as the proto-fascist journal 'The Patriot'.
